Biological activity of carpropamid (KTU 3616): a new fungicide for rice blast disease

, : Biological activity of carpropamid (KTU 3616): a new fungicide for rice blast disease. Journal of Pesticide Science 22(2): 108-112

In order to evaluate antimicrobial activity in vitro, 17 fungi, including Magnaporthe grisea, and 3 bacteria were cultured on potato dextrose agar medium amended with the fungicide carpropamid (KTU 3616). Although carpropamid had little effect on mycelial growth or cell proliferation of the species tested, except for the Oomycetes, colour change of the colonies of many fungi was observed. It was suggested that this was caused by fungal melanin biosynthesis inhibition.
