A study of the inheritance of quantitative characters in spring bread wheat in top crosses. I. Stem length

A study of the inheritance of quantitative characters in spring bread wheat in top crosses. I. Stem length

Genetika, USSR 11(2): 14-23

A study was made of ten hybrids obtained by crossing five varieties differing in height with two testers. When grown in a greenhouse the parents were 17.62 cm shorter and the F1 hybrids 24.81 cm shorter than when grown in the field. Under field conditions the height of the long-strawed parent was dominant, but in the greenhouse the short-strawed parent dominated in two cases. The extent of labile dominance depended on the genotype of the parents and the environmental conditions.
