A study on the interrelationship between root cation exchange capacity, cation ratios and nutrient uptake

A pot experiment was conducted with ragi (Eleusine coracana Gaertn.) and tomato as test crops in a red calcareous loamy soil. The fertiliser treatments consisted of four levels of nitrogen and three levels of potassium. Plant samples were collected at vegetative, reproductive and post-harvest stages of crops and were analysed for nutrient elements like nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium.
