In 122 buffaloes of av. 442.5 plus or minus 21.7 kg body wt the fresh thyroid wt was 23.52 plus or minus 1.74 g. dry thyroid wt 7.85 plus or minus 0.84 g, and iodine content per g dry thyroid 4.66 plus or minus 0.14 mg. Correlations between these parameters and age, sex, stage of pregnancy or phase of sexual cycle, and presence of genital abnormalities were tested. The total thyroid iodine content was significantly higher in females than males.
