Behaviour of biochemical constituents of the serum of trotting mares during late pregnancy and early lactation. II. Biochemical indicators of uterine involution



Zuchthygiene 10(2): 53-63



Fifteen pregnant mares aged 10-25 years were studied. Serum lactic dehydrogenase increased greatly immediately after parturition and was still raised after 60 days (the period of observation). Serum alkaline phosphatase increased abruptly after parturition and was still at a high level after 60 days. Serum hydroxyproline values almost doubled after parturition and returned to pre-parturient levels after 30 days.
