Biology of flowering and seed production in Medicago tadzhicorum Vass. and Onobrychis antasiatica Khin. in hilly zones of Tadzhikstan

Izvestiya Akademii Nauk Tadzhikskoi SSR, Biologicheskikh Nauk (4(45)): 14-19

Flowers of M. tadzhicorum, a wild species, opened during daytime under favourable weather conditions; most flowers were opened by pollinating insects and some opened automatically. Seed production in M. tadzhicorum was markedly increased by sowing it, and especially by application of fertilizers, compared with seed production under natural conditions. O. antasiatica flowers opened during daytime under conditions of dry, clear days, but the rate of opening was slow.
