Brucellosis in Uganda. Part I. The epizootological and epidemiological situation. A historical review

, : Brucellosis in Uganda. Part I. The epizootological and epidemiological situation. A historical review. Bulletin of Epizootic diseases of Africa 20(1): 43-56

A historical survey is presented of brucellosis research in Uganda, including summaries of literature and district serological surveys. Large-scale investigations were not undertaken until 1956, owing to lack of resources, and preoccupation with other diseases. Recent surveys have indicated the importance of game as reservoirs, and the high incidence of subclinical human brucellosis (overall rate 6.4%). Summaries of such surveys are presented.
