An account is given of the origin, conformation and production characters of the Hereford, Aberdeen-Angus, Beef Shorthorn, Devon, Sussex, Limousin, Charolais, Blonde d'Aquitaine, Romagna, Chiana, Piedmont, Maine-Anjou, Simmental, German Yellow, Central and Upper Belgian, Brangus, Santa Gertrudi and Braford breeds. A table is given, comparing ease of calving, growth, dressing percentage and carcass composition in 13 of these breeds.
