Isolates of R. solani were sought whose growth rates relative to each other were different, but which remained in the same order relative to each other under a wide range of nutritional conditions, in response to plant hormones and other growth promoting metabolites, and under different temps. Of 11 isolates 3 had these characteristics. DNA varied between 0.4 and 0.6%, RNA was constant at c.11.5% and protein was 27.5-36.4%. The isolates contained 2870-4900 picomoles of ATP/mg dry wt.
