Chemical composition, digestibility and intake of fresh and ensiled male-sterile maize

Chemical composition, digestibility and intake of fresh and ensiled male-sterile maize

Annales de Zootechnie 23(4): 423-434

In trials with sheep in 1970-1, the digestibility and intake of male-sterile maize Sucrensilage was determined during 9-10 weeks beginning at flowering. The grain percentage increased slowly but regularly and the DM content increased slowly after flowering. OM digestibility increased slowly especially during the 1st 6-7 weeks. DM intake was 20% higher in male-sterile than in fertile maize.
