Chronic copper toxicity of sheep: an ultrastructural study of spongiform leucoencephalopathy

Chronic copper toxicity of sheep: an ultrastructural study of spongiform leucoencephalopathy

Research in Veterinary Science 15(1): 88-95

Spongy transformation of the white matter of the brains of sheep, poisoned with oral copper sulphate for 6-10 weeks, was examined by light and electron microscope. The lesions were produced by the formation of intramyelinic vacuoles with splitting of myelin lamellae at the intraperiod line.
