2. Of 48 patients in hospital on anticonvulsants 36 had low serum folacin values. Macrocytosis was found in 19 of 25, increased red cell volume in 12 of 48 and hypersegmentation of polymorphs in 6 of 25. Treatment with folic acid corrected those abnormalities and reduced buccal cell nuclear size to a significant extent.
