Combining ability of some Ricinus communis lines



Genetica Polonica 13(1): 75-82



Two indigenous varieties, TMV1 and HC6, and one exotic variety, Baker Inbred, were used as female parents in crosses with seven tester varieties. The results indicated that general combining ability was the dominant component of variance for plant height, internode number and yield, while specific combining ability was more important for spike length and 100-seed weight. Baker Inbred, Jl44 and EC29070 showed negative general combining effects for plant height and low internode number.
