Comments on the bacteriological requirements for raw milk according to the Hygiene Ordinance for Farm Sales of Milk of 24th May 1973

Comments on the bacteriological requirements for raw milk according to the Hygiene Ordinance for Farm Sales of Milk of 24th May 1973

Archiv fur Lebensmittelhygiene 25(12): 274-275

On the basis of practical experience the authors suggest that the requirement of less than or equal to 500 000 total bacteria/ml raw milk, laid down in the Hygiene Ordinance for Farm Sales of Milk can be met if due care is exercised, but the requirement of no detectable coliforms in 0.1 ml cannot always be observed under practical conditions even if the utmost care is applied.
