Commercial breeding and hatching of ringneck pheasants in New Zealand

Pheasants were first introduced into New Zealand in 1842, but commercial breeding was begun only in 1970 by several breeders in the North Island. The largest breeder hatches 80 000-120 000 chicks annually.
