Common wheat with Aegilops speltoides cytoplasm: differential fertility restoration and use in hybrid wheat breeding

Male-sterile plants (A) obtained by transferring the bread wheat genome into Ae. speltoides cytoplasm are similar morphologically to male-sterile plants (T) with T. timopheevii cytoplasm. Most T. timopheevii - derived R lines restore similar degrees of male fertility in F1s of A and T male-sterile lines, but R5 (derived from T. zhukovskyi and Justin) produces fertile F1s from crosses with T and male-sterile F1s from crosses with A.
