Comparative characteristics of the conditions of formation and of the coefficients of meltwater run-off in non-forested and forested parts of a catchment

Comparative characteristics of the conditions of formation and of the coefficients of meltwater run-off in non-forested and forested parts of a catchment

Trudy, Gidrometeorologicheskii Nauchno Issledovatel' skii Tsentr SSSR, Leningrad (84): 34-48

Discusses the water regime of soils in a forest zone, and presents equations for calculating the amount of run-off from a forest-covered catchment, and for determining the mean value of the run-off coefficient as a function of the % forest cover. Values are compared for the meltwater run-off coefficients from forest-covered and non-forested parts of catchments in the Valdai Hills in the Moscow region, and in the Cheptsa region.
