Comparative evaluation by different methods of milk yield of sows

During 3 yr, observations were carried out on 3 leading breed farms in the Ukrainian SSR with respectively (i) Large White, (ii) Mirgorod and (iii) Dnieper pigs. Evaluations of milk yield by litter wt. at 21 days of age was compared with evaluation at 30 days of age. Correlation coeff. between the 2 were (i) 0.93 plus or minus 0.03, (ii) 0.92 plus or minus 0.01 and (iii) 0.88 plus or minus 0.03.
