Comparative extraction of chlorinated hydrocarbon insecticides from soils 20 years after treatment

Comparative extraction of chlorinated hydrocarbon insecticides from soils 20 years after treatment

Journal - Association of Official Analytical Chemists 56(3): 728-732

Three methods (shake, Soxhlet, and column) were compared for efficiency of extraction of certain chlorinated hydrocarbon insecticides from a sandy loam treated 20 years earlier. Column extraction tended to be less efficient than the other two methods, but statistically there were no differences in extraction efficiencies among the three methods for aldrin, dieldrin, heptachlor, chlordane, isodrin, endrin, toxaphene, or Dilan and their residue products.
