Comparative histological and immunological studies on immunologically defective fowls. II. Truly dysgammaglobulinaemic fowls

Comparative histological and immunological studies on immunologically defective fowls. II. Truly dysgammaglobulinaemic fowls

Zentralblatt fur Veterinarmedizin 20A(Heft 7): 596-605

In 26 chickens (aged between 6 weeks and 14 months) with abnormal immunoglobulin patterns following embryonal bursectomy as well as 26 of their offspring (aged between 1 day and 3 weeks) the bursa, thymus, spleen and caecal tonsils were examined histologically. Bursal changes were found in only a few birds. The thymus was always normal. The number of germ centres and pyroninophil cells in the spleen and caecal tonsils varied widely.
