Comparative immunofluorescent studies on 4 Babesia species of cattle

Research in Veterinary Science 13(4): 342-346

B. bigemina, B. bovis (syn. B. argentina, B. berbera), B. major and B. divergens were investigated by the indirect fluorescent antibody technique in order to estimate their antigenic relationship. Serum samples were obtained at intervals from 4 calves, which were infected experimentally with one of the 4 parasites. Titres against the heterologous antigens were consistently lower than those obtained with the homologous antigens.
