Comparison of type 32 and flue-cured tobacco cultivars produced under flue-cured culture when air- and flue-cured

In field trials in North Carolina in 1971-3 air-cured type tobacco Md 10 and Md 609 were grown, harvested and treated as flue-cured tobacco. Flue-cured type tobacco Coker 319 and NC 2326 were also grown. Data showed that it might be possible to produce type 32 (= Maryland) tobacco in a flue-cured area, but flue-cured cultivars cannot substitute for Maryland cultivars.
