Varieties of Lolium perenne, Phleum pratense, Festuca rubra commutata and F. rubra rubra, F. ovina, Agrostis tenuis, A. stolonifera palustris and A. canina canina were sown in pure stands or as mixtures. A dense sward, and consequently a good appearance, was achieved in pure stands or where only a small proportion of other non-sown plants had become established.
