The aim is to investigate credit institutions in developing countries and their importance in the process of developing traditional agriculture. The empirical study was carried out in North-West Pakistan. The introduction outlines the traditional farming situation and its place in the economy. A detailed analysis of the credit system follows. This illustrates both the demand components and the heteregeneous credit supply.
