Determinations of the resistance of potato varieties to late blight (Phytophthora infestans de By.), made on detached leaves

Laboratory assessments on detached leaves were compared, in 30 varieties, with field estimates. For material grown outdoors, the correlation coefficients for 21 pairs of criteria were in no case lower than 0.53 and in 12 cases exceeded 0.7, while for greenhouse-grown material, the highest correlation was 0.302.
