Fattening bulls fed ad lib with concentrates plus lucerne hay or maize silage gained 1.45 kg/day on rations containing hay and 1.53 kg/day on those containing silage; intakes were 6.2-6.5 kg concentrates, 1.5 kg hay and 3.5 kg silage/day, roughage accounting for about 20% of DM intake.
