In pot trials with tetraploid buckwheat, grain yields increased from 7.2 g/pot for plants given PK to 28.3 g for those given PK + ammonium nitrate; protein content in the grain was increased from 8.9 to 10.9%, but starch content decreased from 76.7 to 70.0%.
