In field experiments in 1967-9, a spring barley/red clover/winter wheat rotation was given NPK and high or low rates of B, Mo and Mn in various combinations. Application of trace elements had no effect on crop yields or on the contents of N, P, K, Ca or Mg, but at both rates significantly increased the contents of B and Mo in barley at the stem-elongation and earing stages. The Mn content of barley was only slightly increased by the high rate of trace-element application.
