Effect of dietary animal tallow and vegetable oil on fatty acid composition of egg yolk, adipose tissue and liver of laying hens

Groups of 8 pullets 24 weeks of age were fed on one of 17 experimental diets, a basal diet and diets where animal tallow, soya bean oil, sunflower oil or rapeseed oil replaced sucrose at 1, 2, 4 or 8%. The experiment lasted for six 28-day periods.Changes in fatty acid composition of liver, egg yolk and adipose tissue were generally proportional to the fatty acid patterns of dietary fat source.
