Data were obtained on 1104 litters born to 2nd-generation sows allocated rations in the proportions 100:80:60% as they reached 100 kg body weight. In the 3 groups of sows resp., body weight averaged 113.0, 110.4 and 107.2 kg at 1st mating, 206.3, 184.5 and 159.7 kg at the 2nd, and 223.9, 200.0 and 169.6 at the 3rd; all differences between groups 1 and 2, and 1 and 3 were significant.
