Effect of different housing densities on the fattening of broilers

Effect of different housing densities on the fattening of broilers

Wydawnictwa Wlasne, Instytut Zootechniki w Polsce (323): 93-99

Cornish X White Rock broilers intended for slaughter at 9 wk of age were housed at densities of 10, 12, 14, 16 or 18 birds/m2. Data are tabulated for live weight at 4 and 9 wk of age, total production of live broilers/m2 (in kg), food consumption/kg gain, and mortality in 3 series of experiments. It is concluded that the stocking rate of 10-12 broilers/m2 hitherto recommended is too low.
