For 60 days 96 white rats, caged singly, initially aged 4 weeks and weighing about 45 g had a semisynthetic diet of casin 10, maize starch 64, sunflower seed oil 8, salt mixture and dried yeast 4 each and ballast material 2 g/100 g. Weekly they were given also vitamin A 270 and ergocalciferol 100 IU and 1 mg vitamin E. To the salt mixture were added 10 mg Mo/kg as sodium molybdate or 25 mg/kg Cu as copper sulphate or both or neither.
