Effect of oxytocin on let down time and composition of milk in hard-to-milk buffaloes

Administration of 17.5 or 20 IU oxytocin to hard-to-milk buffaloes reduced milk-ejection time relative to that of controls, although there was wide variation (5-300 s) among individual animals. Min. milking period in controls was 157 s and max. in buffaloes treated with 12.5 IU oxytocin was 409.6 s. Lowest average milk yield in controls was 626 g, while max. in 17.5 IU oxytocin-treated animals was 2850 g.
