Perlette grapevines were pruned to 200, 150, 120 or 100 canes with 3, 4, 5 or 6 buds, respectively. The treatments did not affect the time of bud burst, panicle emergence, fruit set or maturity. The 4-bud treatment gave the highest yield and bunch size but the 3-bud treatment resulted in the lowest percentage of shot berries (19.5%) and the highest TSS and sugars in the fruit.
