Effects of structure and plane of ration in individual phases of the breeding cycle on productivity of sows. 3. Effect of energy source in the ration during pregnancy on productivity of sows

Effects of structure and plane of ration in individual phases of the breeding cycle on productivity of sows. 3. Effect of energy source in the ration during pregnancy on productivity of sows

Agronomski Glasnik 37(5/6): 335-350

3. Three groups of 13 Large White sows were fed during pregnancy on diets of practical type in which the main cereal was 60% maize or one-third or two-thirds of the maize was replaced by sorghum. The sows were fed individually during pregnancy but for lactation they all had the same ration with 16% crude protein. The 3 test diets during pregnancy had, respectively, crude protein 14.5, 15.1 and 15.6% and the sorghum supplied somewhat more lysine and methionine than when maize was given alone.
