Energy balance and water supply in glasshouses in the West-Netherlands
A good correlation was found to exist between evapotranspiration and total solar radiation in an unheated glasshouse. Approximately 50% of the solar radiation was used to evaporate water, whereas only 25-30% of artificial heat appeared to be used for this purpose. Data on water supplies to crops in heated glasshouses from a large number of commercial holdings were in good agreement with the calculated requirements.
