Reports the results of a systematic evaluation of the incidence of Cronartium fusiforme, made by the ratio-estimation statistical method for 8- to 12-year-old Pinus taeda and P. elliottii plantations in the southern USA. Rust incidence was highest for both P. taeda and P. elliottii in Georgia, Alabama, S. Carolina and Mississippi. Louisiana showed a low incidence of rust on P. taeda but a high incidence on P. elliottii. Incidence of rust was least in Arkansas, N. Carolina and Florida.
