Abstract
Experimental studies on various techniques of oesophageal reconstruction are reported. Considerable variations were observed in the tissue reactions by different suture materials. Transplantation was tried with homografts of ileum and fascia data. The latter proved to be a satisfactory tissue for reconstruction of oesophageal wounds. Non-absorbable suture materials provided healing than catgut.
