Ten heifers aged 16-18 mth received orally 0.5 mg MGA/day for 14 days. Oestrus occurred, on average, 8.6 days after cessation of treatment, and CR within 1, 2 and 3 cycles post-treatment was 30, 60 and 100% resp. Another group of 10 heifers, synchronised as above, was not inseminated until the 2nd oestrus after treatment. The CR eventually reached 100% The experiment was repeated using 2 groups each of 5 cows aged 5-7 yr.
