Experiments on the infection of the termites Coptotermes formosanus (Shiraki) and Reticulitermes lucifugus (Rossi) with some species of Entomophthora

Studies in Czechoslovakia showed that Coptotermes formosanus Shir. and Reticulitermes lucifugus (Rossi) can be infected experimentally in the laboratory with species of Entomophthora that are not known to attack these termites in the field. C. formosanus was infected with E. thaxteriana, E. destruens and a strain of E. virulenta (referred to as strain number 1) that was isolated originally in California; the percentages of infection were 100, 95 and 70, respectively.
