Extraction and identification of flavonoid pigments in some mediterranean cultivars of Dianthus caryophyllus

The petal pigments of the brilliant red carnation Carmen were found to be derived from pelargonidin and kaempferol. The American Red Sim contained the same pigments, but was not so intense in colour.
