Feed requirements of dry and lactating cows

Feed requirements of dry and lactating cows

Latvijas Lauksaimniecibas Akademijas Raksti 57: 28-36

The DM intake of bulk fodder was highest during the 2nd and 3rd lactation months and lowest during the last 2 wk before calving; it showed little change during 4-7 months of lactation. A close correlation (r = 0.78) was found between total feed intake and milk yields, but that between bulk fodder intake and milk yield was less marked (r = 0.48). Live-wt. and age had still less effect on total feed intake, the respective correlation coeff. being 0.39 and 0.21.
