Feed requirements of growing and fattening beef cattle: New Zealand experimental data compared with National Research Council (U.S.A.) and Agricultural Research Council (U.K.) feeding standards

Feed requirements of growing and fattening beef cattle: New Zealand experimental data compared with National Research Council (U.S.A.) and Agricultural Research Council (U.K.) feeding standards

New Zealand Journal of Agricultural Research 18(3): 295-301

Intakes of metabolisable energy (ME) derived from 91 grazing and 59 stall-feeding experiments with growing and fattening beef cattle were compared with ME intakes predicted from average liveweights and rates of liveweight gain on a group basis using the ARC (1965) and NRC (1970) feeding standards. The NRC feeding standard predicted ME intakes more accurately than that of the ARC. All NRS and ARC estimates, when corrected using regression analysis, were of similar accuracy.
