Foliar sensitivity of soybeans to ozone as related to several leaf parameters

Foliar sensitivity of soybeans to ozone as related to several leaf parameters

Environmental Pollution 4(3): 183-192

Foliar injury to the first trifoliate leaves of soyabeans Dare, exposed for 2 h to 980 mu g O3/m3, reached a maximum 11-16 days after sowing, with about 45% chlorosis and/or necrosis of the upper leaf surface. Injury decreased steadily after 16 days to a negligible amount at 35 days. The 1st trifoliate leaves increased in fresh weight and area until about 20 days; relative stomatal resistance to gas exchange was low initially, but increased rapidly after about 25 days.
