Further observations on the production of scrapie in sheep by oral dosing with foetal membranes from scrapie-affected sheep

Further observations on the production of scrapie in sheep by oral dosing with foetal membranes from scrapie-affected sheep

British Veterinary Journal 130(4): Lxv-Lxvii

The results at 30 months of an experiment in which sheep were inoculated intracerebrally or dosed orally with foetal membranes from one of six scrapie affected sheep were reported in 1972 (V.B. 42, abst. 4568). The experiment has now been terminated at 58 months, and it is recorded that whereas at 30 months the membranes of only four of the six donor animals had produced scrapie, at 57 months membranes of all six donors had produced the disease.
