Further studies on bud fertility in certain varieties of wine and table grapes

Further studies on bud fertility in certain varieties of wine and table grapes

Studi Sassaresi, III 19: 414-427

Bud fertility at the different nodes increased from the base to the apex of the cane in the cvs Cagnulari, Sangiovese, Trebbiano, Cardinal and Regina dei Vigneti. In these cvs, therefore, only short portions of the shoot should be pruned away. In Italia and Regina, however, long portions of shoot may be removed since fertility increases up to the 6th or 7th node and declines markedly at the higher nodes.
