Data were obtained on litters born to 13 Californian White (CW) and 6 French Silver (FS) does mated with CW or FS males. In the 2 breeds of does resp., litter size averaged 8.02 and 7.69. In CW, FS, CW X FS and FS X CW litters resp., mortality to weaning averaged 8.3, 8.9, 10.4 and 10.5% Weight of young averaged 59.6, 59.2, 60.8 and 60.4 g at birth, 1523.3, 1349.5, 1517.9 and 1626.9 g at weaning at 56 days, and 2550.7, 2550.9, 2553.5 and 2559.2 at slaughter.
