Hard Red Spring and Durum wheat in rations for growing-finishing beef cattle



North Dakota Farm Research 30(1): 24-28



For 126 days 8 groups of 6 Hereford bullocks of average initial weight 330 lb were given a supplement containing lucerne pellets, molasses, beet pulp, wheat bran and limestone plus minerals and vitamins with 2.0 or 5.2 kg dry-rolled hard red spring wheat of 2 varieties, durum wheat or barley. With the smaller amount of grain the concentrate had soya bean meal to equalize protein supplies. Maize silage was given to appetite.
