In incubation experiments with 15N, immobilized N derived from added NH4 was distributed mainly in hydrolysable ammonium-N, alpha -amino-N and non-hydrolysable-N fractions. A decrease in soil organic N during incubation was particularly pronounced in alpha -amino-N and non-hydrolysable N fractions.
