Abstract
In an experiment at Guaiba in 1968-9, grain sorghum cv. (a) NK-222 and (b) Pioneer 832 of short and long duration, respectively, were sown on 6 Oct., 6 Nov. or 27 Dec. to give crop densities of 125 000, 187 500 or 312 500 plants/ha and supplied with 0, 40 or 80 kg N/ha. Maximum yields resulted from sowing in Nov. and (b) was higher-yielding than (a) at all sowing dates. N rate and plant density had no significant effect on grain yields.
